(New York) Ottawa’s Gabriela Dabrowski and her New Zealand playing partner Erin Routliffe advanced to the third round of women’s doubles at the US Open.
Dabrowski and Routliffe, 16are seeded China’s Zhu Lin and Taiwan’s Fang-hsien Wu 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 on Saturday.
In the next round, Dabrowski and Routliffe will cross swords with the Czechs Barbora Strycova and Marketa Vondrousova.
Dabrowski, 31, reached the women’s doubles semifinals at the 2021 U.S. Open with Brazil’s Luisa Stefani. The latter had to give up during this match due to a knee injury.
Routliffe and Dabrowski are in their fourth tournament together. They began their association in August at the National Bank Open in Montreal.
Laval’s Leylah Annie Fernandez and American Taylor Townsend, sixth seeds, were also on the schedule on Saturday. They were playing against Spaniards Aliona Bolsova and Rebeka Masarova in a women’s doubles second round match.
