French tennis player Arthur Rinderknech called the 1/16 final match against Russian Andrei Rublev at the US Open an intense and physically demanding match.
The 28-year-old Frenchman, ranked 73rd in the ATP rankings, won the first set (6:3), but lost to the eighth racket of the world in the next three (3:6, 1:6, 5:7).
– As I thought, the match turned out to be very, very intense. I knew that Rublev had a strong hit, but such an intense game requires a lot of physical effort.
I had a slump in the second set when I tried to play long plays to close the game gap. It was better to play short. I thought that he would sink a little, but this did not happen, and I myself lost a little in the game.
Once again, I was convinced that I lack physical fitness compared to tennis players from the top 10 rankings. I need to continue to work on myself, — quotes the words of Rinderkneh L’Équipe.
In the next round of the US Open, Rublev will play with Briton Jack Draper from the 123rd line of the rating.
