Kirstya knocks out another top-ranked opponent at US Open
Romanian tennis player Sorana Kirstya (No. 30 WTA) reached the 1/4 finals of the US Open tennis championships.
In the fourth round match, the 33-year-old Romanian defeated Olympic champion Belinda Bencic (WTA number 13).

For Kirsti, this will be only the second quarter-final of her career Grand Slam tournament. Went there for the first time at Roland Garros in 2009.
Sorana will face Czech Republic’s Karolina Muchova, who had previously defeated China’s Wang Xiyu in three sets (6:3, 5:7, 6:1) for the semi-final ticket. It will also be the first time a Czech player will play in such a stage of the American Major.
