Olympic champion Elena Vesnina said that Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev will be the favorite in the upcoming quarterfinal match of the US Open against compatriot Andrei Rublev.
– Of course, this quarter-final is a huge success for Russian tennis. It is unfortunate that one of the guys will lose as a result of the meeting. However, the winner will claim the title of the Grand Slam tournament, which is important. In my opinion, Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev are just doing a great tournament.
Of course, Daniil is the favorite in this pair, he leads according to the statistics of personal meetings with Andrey, and he also became the winner of the US Open. But when two compatriots play each other, especially at this stage of the tournament, anything can happen, said Vesnina RT.
The meeting between Medvedev (3rd seed) and Rublev (8) will take place on Wednesday. The score of personal meetings is 5:2 in favor of Medvedev.
