Honored coach of Russia Viktor Yanchuk named the favorite in the quarterfinal match of the US Open between Russians Daniil Medvedev and Andrei Rublev.

– I’ll start by saying that this is, of course, a wonderful event for Russian tennis in general, but it’s a little annoying that the guys meet each other so early. I would like them to meet in the semi-finals of the tournament, and even better – in the final. In my opinion, Medvedev and Rublev have already performed well in the tournament and won confident victories over their rivals. It is obvious that the guys are only getting better in their form, which could not be unequivocally confirmed on the eve of the US Open, since their results were not so convincing.

I think that the winner of their confrontation will have a high chance of reaching the final and winning the tournament. Speaking about the chances of reaching the next stage, I think that Medvedev’s chances are somewhat higher than Andrei’s. In this case, Daniil was very convincing in his meetings, he improved his game, he began to play faster and at a higher pace, with a shorter swing.
