(New York) Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, 2e world and guaranteed to become No.1 at the end of the tournament, qualified for the semi-finals of the United States Open on Wednesday by eliminating the Chinese Qinwen Zheng (23e) 6-1, 6-4.
Sabalenka (25), winner of the Australian Open in January and who had lost the last two years at the semi-finals at Flushing Meadows, will face Czech Marketa Vondrousova (9e), surprise winner of Wimbledon in July, or the American Madison Keys (17e), finalist of the New York tournament in 2017.
