Daniil Medvedev was furious about the conditions in his match against Rublev at the US Open and was even caught on camera saying, “There’s a player going to die here and you’ll see that.”

The difficult conditions of humidity and heat during the US Open unsettled Daniil Medvedev and upset him during his quarterfinal match with Andrei Rublev.

The number 3 in the world rankings prevailed against his compatriot 6:4, 6:3, 6:4 and qualified for the fourth round of the tournament.

During the game he complained seriously about his condition, as several times he seemed unable to breathe.

At one point, he was even caught on camera saying, “A player will die and you will see it.

During game time-outs, Medvedev kept putting cold towels on his face to cool off and constantly asking for ice water.

Medvedev appeared at the match press conference with burns on his face and stressed: “It doesn’t come from the sun, but from the prevailing conditions.” In these conditions, both I and my opponent suffered. It was very difficult for both of us. After the end of the first set, I really couldn’t concentrate on the ball anymore. I played instinctively. We are both very tired.
