Former Russian tennis player Andrei Chesnokov spoke about the victory of Daniil Medvedev over Andrei Rublev in the quarterfinals of the US Open.
Medvedev beat his compatriot in three sets – 6:4, 6:3, 6:4.
– I understand that there were very difficult weather conditions. It was evident that the players literally suffocated. I just can’t imagine how they endured such a load. The pace was just crazy, they actively played nines, along the lines and could cope with this speed with their legs, it’s phenomenal. Medvedev moved along the back line and pulled out such balls. They played one ball in 20 strokes, after that they still managed to show the same phenomenal draw. I thought, who will die first? For girls, the set lasts for 15 minutes, and for them one game lasted so long, ”Vprognoze.ru quotes Chesnokov.
In the semi-finals of the US Open, Medvedev will meet with the first racket of the world Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.
