Kafelnikov considers Alcaraz favorite for US Open semi-finals with Medvedev

The 2000 Olympic champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov believes that Spaniard Carlos Alcaras, the first racket of the world, is the favorite in the semifinal match of the US Open with Russian Daniil Medvedev.
The match between Medvedev and Alcaraz will take place on Friday.
– The match will certainly be interesting. But Alcaraz defends the title, he is last year’s champion. In New York, he plays as well as Daniil, if not better, so Alcaraz is the undisputed favorite for this match. And how it will be in practice, we’ll see. Of course, I would like a good, intriguing game, so that there are no three sets in one direction. I hope Daniil will fight and we will all enjoy the match,” Gazeta.ru quoted Kafelnikov as saying.
Alcaraz and Medvedev have played each other three times, two of them in 2023. In March, in the final of the Masters in Indian Wells, the Spaniard won with a score of 2-0, in July, in the semi-final of Wimbledon, he again won with a clean sheet – 3-0. At Wimbledon 2021, Medvedev was stronger than Alcaraz in three games.
