In her match against 10th seeded Czech Laura Samsonova, 14-year-old Klugman lost the first set with a score of 0:6 and took a medical timeout due to extreme heat and high humidity. The Briton managed to start the second set but ended the match early after losing three more games.
Following this, Klugman and his partner Mimi Xu also withdrew from the doubles tournament.
