Russian tennis player Andrei Chesnokov expects an interesting game from Daniil Medvedev in his match with Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals of the US Open.

World number three Medvedev will play Alcaraz in the US Open semi-finals.

— Medvedev and Alcaraz played a match in Indian Wells. Carlos played absolutely amazing throughout that tournament. As for Wimbledon, everything was fine until the score was 5:5 in the first set – then Medvedev collapsed. Even in the third set, when Alcaraz gave chances to Dana, Medvedev still made mistakes.

Today Medvedev is ready. I understand that he was very tired (in the match) against Rublev. The three hours they played was equivalent to a five-set match. Alcaraz simply demolished Zverev in the quarterfinals. But Zverev gave everything in the marathon with Sinner. But Alcaraz and Zverev played in Madrid – there Carlos completely killed him.

In the match with Alcaraz, Medvedev must show something interesting. I hope that Daniil will show a phenomenal performance. Medvedev can win, but I think Alcaraz is the favorite. Medvedev lost his serve more times in the match with Rublev than Djokovic did during the entire Australian Open in winter,” Chesnokov is quoted as saying by “Championship.”

Alcaraz and Medvedev have played each other three times, two of them in 2023. In March, the Spaniard won the Masters final in Indian Wells with a score of 2–0; in July, in the semifinals of Wimbledon, he again won with a clean sheet – 3–0. At Wimbledon 2021, Medvedev was stronger than Alcaraz in three games.

American Ben Shelton and Serbian Novak Djokovic will play in the other Grand Slam semi-final.
