Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic trolled American Ben Shelton after beating him in the US Open semi-final match.

The Serbian, ranked second in the ATP rankings, defeated the 47th racket of the world with a score of 6:3, 6:2, 7:6 (7:4). The duration of the match was 2 hours 40 minutes.

At the US Open, Shelton was remembered for his victory celebration: the American pretended to answer a phone call and then made a hand gesture as if hanging up the phone. This time Djokovic demonstrated this gesture after defeating his opponent.

“I just loved Ben’s celebration.” I thought it was very original and copied it. “I stole his celebration,” Djokovic was quoted as saying by the NY Post.

In the final, Djokovic will play against Russian representative Daniil Medvedev.

For Medvedev, this will be the third US Open final – he previously played in the decisive matches of the tournament in 2019 and 2021. In 2021, Medvedev won the US Open, beating Djokovic in the final with a score of 6:4, 6:4, 6:4.

The 36-year-old Serb holds the record for most Grand Slam victories, with 23 titles to his name.
