Danilina and Heliovaara became US Open mixed doubles champions

Kazakh tennis player Anna Danilina and Finn Harri Heliovaara became the mixed doubles champions of the US Open 2023.

In the final, Danilina and Heliovaara defeated the ranking leaders, American tennis players Jessica Pegula and Austin Krajicek, in two sets. The Finnish-Kazakh duo, which took a break immediately in the first set, won the game with a score of 6:3 despite three break points from Pegula and Krajicek. In the second set, Danilina and Heliovaara again took an early break, but this time the Americans quickly came back. With the score of 4:4, the Finnish-Kazakh duo took another break and then won on their serves.

Harry Heliovaara became the first Finn in the Open Era to win the US Open in mixed doubles, and Danilina became the first representative from Kazakhstan to win a major in mixed doubles.
