Djokovic: The moving reason behind the development of the jersey for Kobe
In his remarks, Novak Djokovic explained the reasons why he decided to design the jersey for Kobe Bryant.
Novak Djokovic’s move to commemorate Kobe Bryant with a special jersey was essential at the US Open trophy presentation.
The 36-year-old Serb was interviewed and analyzed the reasons that led him to this action: “I was thinking about making this t-shirt if I win the tournament. That was about seven days ago. I had only shared it with anyone a few days ago when I asked my people to help me with this t-shirt.”
Kobe and I were close, he was my good friend. We talked a lot about the winning mentality as I struggled with my injury and tried to get back to the top of the game.
He was one of the people I could rely on the most. He was always at my side with advice and support and supported me in the friendliest way.
What happened a few years ago with the deaths of him and his daughter affected me deeply. He thought No. 24 was the number he wore when he became a Lakers and world basketball legend. So I thought this would be a nice symbolic gesture to acknowledge what he did for me.”
