Djokovic apologized to Medvedev after the US Open final for ruining his wedding anniversary

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic jokingly apologized to Russian Daniil Medvedev, whom he beat in the US Open final on his wedding anniversary.
On Sunday, Djokovic defeated Medvedev in the US Open final 6-3, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
— Daniel said too many nice words. I’m sorry I didn’t start my speech with congratulations. I want to congratulate you on a fantastic tournament and apologize for the result. And please don’t get me wrong: happy wedding anniversary. I’m really sorry. If I had known that today was the anniversary, maybe the result (could have been different).
Jokes aside, Daniil was incredibly sweet and kind to me and my team. His coach, everything. It’s great to see your professional relationship with your coach develop. What you have achieved. And I know that you have much more to achieve in the coming years. You will undoubtedly win many more Grand Slams,” Djokovic said on court.
Djokovic holds the record for most Grand Slam singles titles (24).
