Former Russian tennis player Andrei Chesnokov expressed the opinion that Russian Daniil Medvedev did not have enough strength in the US Open final with Serbian Novak Djokovic.
The decisive match of the tournament ended with a score of 6:3, 7:6 (7:5), 6:3 in favor of Djokovic. This is the 36-year-old Serb’s 24th Grand Slam title. On Monday he returned to first place in the world rankings.
— It was an incredible level of play! The pranks were breathtaking, but Medvedev was always missing something. I was disappointed in the second set, which Danya should have won; the game would have gone differently. Somewhere there was a lack of speed and strength. But Medvedev did not have to give up the second set, everything was in his hands.
Djokovic is a real evil genius, no further words are needed. A well-deserved victory and an honest first racket of the world. One can only admire him. In every aspect, Djokovic was excellent,” Sport24 quotes Chesnokov.
