The former world number one was disqualified for four years for violating anti-doping rules.

Former world number one Romanian Simona Halep has been disqualified for four years for violating anti-doping rules, it is reported on website International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).

Halep was charged in connection with an unfavorable doping test result for the banned substance roxadustat during the 2022 US Open, as well as in connection with deviations in the indicators in the athlete’s biological passport.

The Romanian tennis player has been temporarily suspended from competition since October 2022, this period will count towards the disqualification. Thus, Halep could return to the court in October 2026.

Halep is 31 years old. During her career, she won 24 titles at WTA tournaments, including Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
