Simona Halep was given a four-year ban by the ITIA from October 2022 following the doping case.

Simona Halep was banned for four years after testing positive for doping in October 2022.

The World Tennis Integrity Organization (ITIA) announced that the illegal substance roxadustat was found in her body.

The Romanian, a former world number 1 who had won two Grand Slams, had been sidelined since October 2022 and was waiting for her sentence to be announced.

This was announced on Tuesday (9/12), with Simona Halep revealing that she has been banned for four years and will be able to compete again in October 2026 if she wishes.

The Romanian will most likely turn to the highest authorities such as the CAS to lessen her sentence and be able to compete earlier.
