Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic broke down in tears at the honoring ceremony in Belgrade after winning the US Open, Sportskeeda reports.
The tennis player took the stage in front of a crowd of thousands, who greeted him with a standing ovation. Djokovic tried to compose himself and say a few words as a thank you to the fans.
Djokovic holds the record for most Grand Slam singles titles for men and women along with Margaret Court (24). During his career, the 36-year-old Serb won 96 ATP singles tournaments. The Serbian beat Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev in the 2023 US Open final.
In addition to Djokovic, Serbian fans met the Serbian national basketball team, which took second place at the recently concluded World Cup. In the final, the Serbs lost to the German team.
