The Russian tennis player rejected the best player in the world. And I bitterly regretted it

But Maria and Carlos could be a great couple!

The first racket of the world, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, over the course of a year and a half, turned from a promising and promising athlete into a real star of world tennis. Naturally, a young, handsome guy with prestigious titles and huge prize money is the dream of many girls.

But not so long ago Alcaraz showed signs of attention to a little-known Russian tennis player. Maria rejected the advances of the future world ranking leader and deprived the world of sports of a very beautiful couple.

“The Ultimate Player”

By the age of 20, Alcaraz had achieved a lot in his professional career. In 2022, he won the US Open, beating the Norwegian Casper Ruud in the final, and at the same time became the first racket of the world. And already this year, the Spaniard took the second Grand Slam tournament – Wimbledon, beating the legendary Serb Novak Djokovic in a five-set match.

At the moment, Alcaraz is the leader of the ATP ranking, and therefore the strongest tennis player on the planet. Not every young champion turned into a legend over time, but Carlos can well count on a prominent place in the annals of world sports – just listen to his great rival.

— Over the last year, everyone has been saying that he took various elements of his game from Roger, Rafa and me. I agree with this. Essentially, he took the best from the three of us. Even at a young age, he is a mentally stable and mature player. This is very impressive. He has the mentality of a Spanish bull, he strives to win, shows his fighting spirit and incredible defense – everything we have seen from Rafa all these years. And his sliding backhand is similar to mine. To be honest, I have never played against a tennis player like him. Roger and Rafa have their strengths and weaknesses, and Carlos is a complete player,” Djokovic praised the Spaniard at a press conference after losing the Wimbledon final.

Rafael Nadal did not skimp on warm words addressed to his compatriot, calling Carlos “a special talent that will open a new era in tennis.” Roger Federer was not at all shy about calling his young colleague a new superstar. The leaders of the current generation of tennis players, including Russian Daniil Medvedev, also recognize Alcaraz’s strength.

“I’m here, I’m waiting”

Alcaraz is really starting to settle into the role of a superstar: he can be seen not only on the tennis court, but also in advertisements for world famous brands or on the cover of popular men’s magazines. The financial and economic media are discussing possible sponsors of the star, and women’s tabloids are trying to find out who the promising athlete’s girlfriend is. Isn’t this an indicator of star status?

Despite everyone’s interest, Carlos does not advertise his personal life. Former British tennis player John Lloyd even doubted that Alcaraz would decide to attend a party in the company of a girl.

There are rumors that Alcaraz is dating Spanish tennis player Maria Gonzalez Jimenez. If this is so, then the young people keep their relationship out of sight of fans and do not publish joint photos on social networks. Tennis player from Russia Maria Timofeeva unexpectedly decided to shed light on the Spaniard’s personal life.

— I regret that in 2018, Carlos wrote to me for a very long time and I did not reciprocate. And a year later I started writing, but it was too late – Carlos didn’t answer me, so the train left. Carlos, if you’re watching this video, I’m here, I’m waiting. Do not ignore me. Now I have the Internet and brains,” Maria Timofeeva said ironically to the Tbn Tennis YouTube channel.

There is no reason to accuse Maria of self-interest. From her words, it turns out that she began writing to Carlos long before his victories at the Grand Slam tournaments. And who doesn’t want to be the companion of the best player on the planet?

All that remains is to kindly sympathize with Maria and wish her to find personal happiness.

SVITOLINA: “There are ups and downs, but the main thing is to enjoy the moment”

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina He shared his feelings after winning the first round match at the Australian Open, where he defeated the Spanish representative. Kristina Bukshaqualified for the second round of the tournament.

– Elina, you started the season very brightly. You won the title in Auckland and now you’re through to the second round of the Australian Open. What did you do in the off-season to be playing tennis this well right now?

– I trained with my husband (laughs). In fact, we had an off-season and quality pre-season preparation process. It’s always nice to get a win and of course the tournament in Auckland was very special for us. So yeah, I’m really happy. I’m also enjoying the warm weather here and looking forward to the next matches.

– You mentioned your husband. He was here today and we know he has given you incredible support throughout your career. What does it mean to you to have him by your side and how beneficial is it to share this experience with someone who understands everything?

– We really support each other in every tournament. It is very valuable for us to have someone next to you who truly understands you and supports you every step of the way.

This year will be special for him with many different emotions and I think it will be very interesting. And for me, it’s important to be close to him and rejoice that we can share this path together.

– Without a doubt. We know you both love playing here. You have played here three times in the quarter-finals and only once lost the first round match against Angelique Kerber. I think you can be forgiven for that. The name of the tournament is Happy Slam. What did you like most here?

– I really like the atmosphere. I think this is the most relaxed of all the “majors”: good vibes, lots of energy from the audience. Even during qualifying the stands are packed and the atmosphere is great. Of course, it is great for the players to go out on the court and show their best tennis in such an atmosphere.

– We really love watching you too. We’ve been doing this for 13 years and it’s an incredible achievement. And finally: What keeps you motivated, what keeps you coming back and getting better every year?

– I think it’s all about taste. Of course, there are ups and downs, but the main thing is to try to enjoy these moments.
And certainly being able to play in front of fans all over the world is something you really start to miss when you stop playing.

I have a great team, my husband is nearby and he supports me too. I try to do my best every year and I really appreciate this moment,” said Elina.
