Stefanos Tsitsipas: “We are not playing just for ourselves, but for those affected by the fires and floods”

Stefanos Tsitsipas emphasized at the press conference before the start of the Davis Cup that the national team would also play for those affected by the fires and floods.

The Davis Cup draw was conducted for the series of matches between Greece and Slovakia for World Group I, with the matches being played at the Panathenaic Stadium.

Stefanos Tsitsipas at the press conference emphasized that the national team would also play for those affected by the fires and floods.

The press conference:

What is the mood on the court in Kallimarmaro:

“I feel like a lot of work has been done on the stadium, but also because it feels good to play in a stadium like this. I had the opportunity to come to this place as a tourist whenever playing in this stadium is very special for me.

For his part, Apostolos Tsitsipas stated: “Choosing the respective venue is a good choice to host the games there. Is the choice ideal, is it economical? That’s what is needed in such a room. There is rivalry, the hallmark of the Olympics. Great work was done.”

The progress you and Maria are seeing has resulted in more children playing tennis and an overall increase in interest in the sport. Do you think that establishing a tournament in our country would help even more ( Sportish)?

“There hasn’t been an opportunity to do something like this before. But if there is an event like this in the future, we will definitely see more children playing and dreaming more that they can achieve something in the future.”

How does it feel that they will play in such an important monument of our country?

“It is special, the monuments behind the stadium and the place in general are unique. We are all looking forward to going there and competing and for the Greeks to support us,” said Petros Tsitsipas.

It is an unprecedented experience to play tennis in such a historic stadium, and this stadium also hosted the first Olympic Games. It’s crazy to think that an event like the Davis Cup is taking place in Kalimarmaro.” said Michael Pervolarakis.

Then Stefanos Tsitsipas said: We all have a lot to give on the field. Do great things. We don’t just play for ourselves, but also for those affected by the fires and floods, we want to give a little more. It won’t be an easy meeting.

While Apostolos Tsitsipas emphasized: “I ask for the support of all Greek fans to visit the venue, support the team, the fans are the additional strength for the athletes. We are going through difficult times and especially in Thessaly it is important that we are all there. We are united because we are creating a softer situation. When we are united, we can achieve greater success.”

SVITOLINA: “There are ups and downs, but the main thing is to enjoy the moment”

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina He shared his feelings after winning the first round match at the Australian Open, where he defeated the Spanish representative. Kristina Bukshaqualified for the second round of the tournament.

– Elina, you started the season very brightly. You won the title in Auckland and now you’re through to the second round of the Australian Open. What did you do in the off-season to be playing tennis this well right now?

– I trained with my husband (laughs). In fact, we had an off-season and quality pre-season preparation process. It’s always nice to get a win and of course the tournament in Auckland was very special for us. So yeah, I’m really happy. I’m also enjoying the warm weather here and looking forward to the next matches.

– You mentioned your husband. He was here today and we know he has given you incredible support throughout your career. What does it mean to you to have him by your side and how beneficial is it to share this experience with someone who understands everything?

– We really support each other in every tournament. It is very valuable for us to have someone next to you who truly understands you and supports you every step of the way.

This year will be special for him with many different emotions and I think it will be very interesting. And for me, it’s important to be close to him and rejoice that we can share this path together.

– Without a doubt. We know you both love playing here. You have played here three times in the quarter-finals and only once lost the first round match against Angelique Kerber. I think you can be forgiven for that. The name of the tournament is Happy Slam. What did you like most here?

– I really like the atmosphere. I think this is the most relaxed of all the “majors”: good vibes, lots of energy from the audience. Even during qualifying the stands are packed and the atmosphere is great. Of course, it is great for the players to go out on the court and show their best tennis in such an atmosphere.

– We really love watching you too. We’ve been doing this for 13 years and it’s an incredible achievement. And finally: What keeps you motivated, what keeps you coming back and getting better every year?

– I think it’s all about taste. Of course, there are ups and downs, but the main thing is to try to enjoy these moments.
And certainly being able to play in front of fans all over the world is something you really start to miss when you stop playing.

I have a great team, my husband is nearby and he supports me too. I try to do my best every year and I really appreciate this moment,” said Elina.
