“Daniil Medvedev was superior to Tommy Paul in all components, the American did not know what to do at all” – Olkhovsky

The winner of two Grand Slam mixed doubles tournaments, Andrei Olkhovsky, appreciated the victory of Russian Daniil Medvedev over American Tommy Paul in the first round of the ATP tournament in Beijing.

The Russian beat Paul with a score of 6:2, 6:1. Medvedev’s next opponent will be Australian Alex de Minaur.

— Such a large score is a little surprising, but Medvedev was superior to Paul in all components of the game, the American did not know what to do at all. Paul tried to take risks, but made a lot of mistakes. Medvedev played the match at the highest level. The match with De Minaur next? For me, Daniil is, of course, a favorite. In terms of his level of play today, he is simply better,” RB Sport quotes Olkhovsky.

Medvedev is currently ranked third in the ATP rankings.

“When Kudermetova started working with Tursunov, I became interested” – Dmitrieva about the Russian’s victory over Shventek

Multiple USSR tennis champion Anna Dmitrieva spoke about the victory of Russian Veronika Kudermetova in the quarter-final match of the WTA 500 tournament in Tokyo with Poland’s Iga Szwiatek.

On Friday, Kudermetova beat the world number two, Poland’s Iga Szwiatek, for the first time in her career. The quarterfinal match of the tournament in Tokyo ended in victory for the Russian woman with a score of 6:2, 2:6, 6:4. Now Kudermetova will have to play against compatriot Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

In September, Dmitry Tursunov joined Kudermetova’s coaching staff. Previously, he worked with Belarusian Arina Sabalenka, Estonian Anett Kontaveit, British Emma Raducanu and Swiss Belinda Bencic.

— There is an opinion that Shventek played poorly against Kudermetova, but this does not mean anything. Veronica has been working with Tursunov for several weeks now. What a strange transformation. I’m very happy. Let’s see what will happen next.

When Kudermetova started working with Tursunov, I became interested. She was a failure after all – she was losing all the time. When Sergei Demyokhin decided to come to an agreement with Tursunov, it was the right move. At some point, Veronica lost confidence in herself, but slowly began to find it. It’s even difficult to talk about the semifinals, because I’m rooting for both Kudermetova and Pavlyuchenkova,” “Championship” quotes Dmitrieva.
