Gael MONFIS: “Some will say I’m a clown, but I’m happy and satisfied”
french tennis player Gael Monfils In reaction to the altercation with Felix Auger-Aliassime during the Laver Cup match. The Canadian player claimed that Monfils delayed the time between draws and public matches.
“I’m tired of these constant and useless arguments. Some people seem to get caught up in trivialities. I get annoyed with those who rush to conclusions. Someone might think I’m not serious because I’m smiling and having fun. Of course, my vision may be different, but I always try to respect the instructions given to me.
I am 37 years old and I try to make the most of every moment. I was flattered when I was asked to participate in the Laver Cup. I even thought it was a joke with my current rating being outside the top hundred at this age. However, I take this opportunity very seriously; for the good of the competition, for the good of my team and most importantly for my own good. Traveling to Vancouver and leaving your family isn’t the easiest task. But despite everything, I continue to do my job with passion and sincerity, as always. And I must admit that I get paid very well for this and the working conditions are simply extraordinary.
I know some people will say that I haven’t achieved anything, that I’m a clown… But the truth is that I am happy and fulfilled. I just want to say that the Laver Cup was a great event and I intend to make the most of the rest of the weekend. Let’s catch up Team Europe, Team World,” Monfils wrote on Twitter.
