Honored coach of Russia Viktor Yanchuk believes that Roman Safiullin has a chance of defeating German Alexander Zverev in the final of the tournament in Chengdu, China.
Earlier, the Russian tennis player reached the final of the ATP 250 series tournament, beating the second seeded Italian Lorenzo Musetti in two sets. Zverev is the first seed.
— In my opinion, Roman was a little delayed in his athletic development, but his reaching the finals is a significant achievement. He has climbed to the level where they fight with the top tennis players, and Zverev is one of them. But I would not declare Alexander’s unconditional victory and give him the trophy ahead of schedule. During the tournament he had some difficulties.
I think we can assume that Alexander has not yet found his best form. In terms of playing at high speeds, the rivals are not inferior to each other. However, the psychological aspect will determine the fate of both in this confrontation. It should be a little easier for our tennis player here: he has nothing to lose, he can only gain invaluable experience, which will make him a dangerous opponent,” Yanchuk told RT.
