Davis Cup 1995 finalist Andrei Chesnokov highly praised the results of Russian tennis player Roman Safiullin this season.
The day before, Safiullin reached the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Chengdu, China, where he will play with the first seed Alexander Zverev.
— Zverev is a top ten player, he strives to get to the Final Tournament at the end of the year. Of course, for Roman, reaching the final is already a very big success, even if he loses the decisive match. Safiullin made it far into the bracket recently at Wimbledon, this time reaching his first final at the ATP level. Today he has reached his maximum capabilities.
Roman is a player who does not allow himself to be beaten easily. He makes few mistakes, his opponents always have to play difficult rallies with him, he is a hard worker on the court. Safiullin deserved to be in this final,” Chesnokov noted in a commentary for RB Sport.
