Former world number one Yevgeny Kafelnikov said that for Russian tennis player Roman Safiullin reaching the final of the ATP tournament is a good result.
On Tuesday, the Russian lost to the representative of Germany, Alexander Zverev, in the final of the ATP 250 series tournament in Chengdu (China). The match ended with the score 7:6 (7:2), 6:7 (5:7), 3:6.
— Getting to the finals for the first time at the ATP level is a good result. Further progress will depend on Roman himself. Whatever goals he sets for himself, such will be the results. He certainly has potential, then everything depends only on himself,” Kafelnikov told RB Sport.
26-year-old Safiullin missed the opportunity to win his first ATP title.
