On September 27-28, the 1/8 final matches of the WTA 500 tough tournament took place in Tokyo (Japan).

The last representative of Ukraine Angelina Kalinina At this stage she lost to 5th placed Caroline Garcia.

Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek won her first match after losing her world number one status. In the second round of the competition, she defeated Polish woman Mai Hontama in two sets.

In the quarterfinals, Iga will play against Veronika Kudermetova.

Two more quarter-finalists at the top of the tournament were Ekaterina Alexandrova and Linda Noskova.

At the bottom of the group, second seed Jessica Pegula advanced to the third round. The American will play against Daria Kasatkina, who beat Marta Kostyuk in the 1/16 final.
