World number three Daniil Medvedev reached the second round of the tournament in Beijing.
The Russian, who received the second seed, beat American Tommy Paul in the first round with a score of 6:2, 6:1. The meeting lasted 1 hour 21 minutes.
Medvedev’s next opponent will be Australian Alex de Minaur, who beat Briton Andy Murray in three games.
