Olympic tennis champion in doubles Elena Vesnina spoke about Russian tennis player Diana Schneider’s entry into the finals of the WTA tournament in Ningbo (China).

In the semi-finals, the 19-year-old Russian beat Czech Linda Fruhvirtova with a score of 6:4, 6:1, and the day before she defeated two-time Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova (6:1, 4:6, 6:3). In the final, Schneider will play against world number seven Ons Jabeur from Tunisia.

— It seems to me that Diana is showing herself very well during the tournament in China. Until recently, she was among the juniors, and now she is winning confident victories over eminent tennis players like Kvitova. It was a brilliant success. Thanks to such competitions, Schneider is becoming stronger before our eyes. It benefited her that she “cooked” among such tennis players. This is how great victories come. Having beaten Kvitova, Diana realized that no one is invincible, and top-ranked athletes are not so scary. Now she knows that everything is possible,” Vesnina told RT.

The final of the WTA tournament in Ningbo will be held on Saturday, the start of the meeting is scheduled for 10:00 Moscow time.
