On September 30, the semi-final matches of the challenging WTA 500 series tournament took place in Tokyo (Japan).
The second seed of the competition, Jessica Pegula, confidently beat Maria Sakkari and broke the Greek representative’s 7-match winning streak.
In the final, the American will face Veronika Kudermetova, who beat top seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the semifinals.
Pegula and Kudermetova had played each other once before. In May, Veronica defeated Jesse in the WTA 1000 quarterfinals in Madrid.
