Russian Veronika Kudermetova defeated American Jessica Pegula in the final of the WTA tournament in Tokyo.
The rivals spent 1 hour and 25 minutes on the court, Kudermetova was stronger in two sets. A day earlier, the Russian woman played the longest match in her career (about 3.5 hours), beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the semifinals.
This WTA title was the second in her career for the Russian woman. Previously, Kudermetova won the tournament in Charleston in 2021.
