On October 10, the 1/8 final matches of the tough ATP 1000 series tournament took place in Shanghai (China) in the lower part of the group.

The 6th seed of the competition, Jannik Sinner, lost to Ben Shelton in three sets. The American player will play against Sebastian Korda, who eliminated Francisco Cherundolo, in the quarter-finals.

World number 9 Casper Ruud unexpectedly lost to Fabian Marozan. The Hungarian representative will face Hubert Hurkacs, who ranks 17th in the ATP rankings, in the quarter-finals. Pole defeated 2022 Asian Games winner Zhang Zhizhen in three matches.
