Vanshelboim fell a few steps short of the championship in Bulgaria at the weekend
Ukrainian tennis player Eric Vanshelboim (ATP 402) could not win the championship in the ITF 25K clay competition held in Pazarcık (Bulgaria) at the weekend.
The Ukrainian athlete, ranked 6th in the singles 1/2 final, lost in two sets to Martin Krumich (ATP 617) from the Czech Republic, and then defeated the 1st seed Nicolas David Jonel from Romania to become the winner of the tournament. Three sets in the decisive match – 4:6, 6:0, 6:4.
Vanshelboim’s partner in the doubles round was Matej Dodig (ATP 543) from Croatia, whom Erik defeated in the singles quarter-finals (7:5, 6:2). They reached the final as a duet, where they were crushingly defeated by a couple from Bulgaria with scores of 2:6, 1:6.
