Charleston businessman and philanthropist Benjamin Navarro’s Beemok Capital has announced its decision to continue the Western & Southern Open for another 25 years at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, near Cincinnati.

Founded in 1899, the tournament is the oldest professional tennis tournament in the United States and is held in the city where it was founded. Next year will mark the 125th anniversary of the tournament. Thanks to Navarro’s determination, the tournament will ultimately mark the 150th year of competition in Ohio.

This tennis tournament, which includes the ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 categories, is one of the nine major tournaments in the world where men and women compete simultaneously.

Beemok Capital purchased the tournament from the United States Tennis Association in October 2022 and soon began evaluating the possibility of keeping the tournament at its original location or moving it to Charlotte.

Note that Benjamin Navarro is the father of tennis player Emma Navarro (No. 47 WTA). She also owns the WTA 500 event in Charleston.
