Former world number nine and Honored Master of Sports of Russia in tennis Andrei Chesnokov assessed the opponents’ chances on the eve of Andrei Rublev’s match against Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the semi-finals of the Masters series tournament in Shanghai.
On Friday, Rublev beat Frenchman Hugo Humbert in the quarterfinals of the competition with a score of 6:2, 6:3. During the tournament, Dimitrov knocked out former world number one Carlos Alcaraz.
— Rublev is in very good shape. He played sharp and fast against Humbert. Humbert could not keep up with Rublev’s blows. Looking at this match, Rublev has a chance against Dimitrov. But Grigor is playing very well now. Rublev is my favorite. He takes the initiative into his own hands in every match. Played incredibly in the match against Humbert. I can’t imagine what will happen if he plays like that against Dimitrov. Although I don’t know what Dimitrov will do in this match,” Chesnokov is quoted as saying by “Championship.”
Rublev and Dimitrov previously played six matches, the tennis players won three victories each.
The meeting in Shanghai will take place on Saturday, the approximate start of the game is 15:00 Moscow time.
