Former world number nine Andrei Chesnokov said that Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev showed his best game in the match with Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the semi-finals of the Masters in Shanghai.
On Saturday, Rublev defeated Dimitrov with a score of 7:6 (9:7), 6:3 and reached the final of the tournament in China, where he will play against Pole Hubert Hurkacz.
— I’m not at all surprised that Rublev reached the Masters final. I said that Andrey should beat Grigor, he was the favorite in this semi-final. In the first set we saw equal tennis. Everything was decided in a tiebreaker.
After the first game, the Bulgarian was a little tired, it was obvious. Rublev again showed his best tennis. He left Dimitrov no chance. Andrey played very powerfully, accurately and aggressively. Almost everything worked out for him. This is quite difficult to resist. Rublev deservedly makes it to the final of the Masters in Shanghai. “Everything is natural,” Chesnokov is quoted as saying by “Championship.”
Rublev and Hurkach played four head-to-head matches, the tennis players won two victories each.
