Multiple USSR tennis champion Anna Dmitrieva believes that Russian Andrei Rublev lacked psychological stability and luck in the final of the Masters series tournament in Shanghai.
The Russian lost to Pole Hubert Hurkacz with a score of 3:6, 6:3, 6:7 (8:10).
— What did Andrey lack to win?
— When a person loses in a tiebreaker, having an advantage, being two goals away from victory, it’s difficult to explain. I lacked psychological stability and a little luck. It’s just a shame, he had good chances when all the strongest left the race: Alcaraz, Djokovic, Medvedev. All those who, apparently, had a better chance of winning than Andrey.
He has no serious psychological problems. When you play for every ball, the tension is enormous. Andrey is quite stable. Most likely he was just unlucky. He lost his stability a little and was too hasty with his serve,” Dmitrieva told Metaratings.ru.
