Vice-President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFF) Alexey Selivanenko believes that Russian Pavel Kotov, who lost to the Frenchman Gael Monfils in the final of the tournament in Stockholm, proved that he is ready to withstand any opponents.
The meeting ended with a score of 4:6, 7:6 (8:6), 6:3 in favor of Monfils.
— An excellent, beautiful final, in which both were worthy of victory, but Gael was a little stronger in the end. Pavel was close to finishing the match several times in the second set, but each time he fell a little short. In any case, for Pavel the tournament in Stockholm has become the most successful so far in his nascent career, and he convinced himself that he was ready to play on equal terms with any opponents, Selivanenko told RB Sport.
After the tournament in Stockholm, Kotov rose to 81st place in the ATP rankings.
