Muchova withdraws from WTA Finals and will be replaced by Sakkari
The eighth racket in the world Carolina Muchova She withdrew from the 2023 WTA Finals in Mexico due to an ankle injury.
“I regret to announce that I will miss my first Finals tournament in Cancun. Together with the team and doctors, we tried everything until the last moment to heal my wrist injury. Unfortunately the recovery is taking longer than we had hoped, which means I have to make this unpleasant decision. Thank you very much to all our fans for their support. I will do everything to return in 2024 and get another chance to play in the Final Tournament,” Muchova wrote.
In the 2023 Final Tournament, which will be held between October 29 and November 5, 27-year-old Muchova will be replaced by 28-year-old world number nine Maria Sakkari from Greece.
