Russian tennis player Alexander Shevchenko beat Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka in the first round of the ATP tournament in Basel.
Shevchenko, who made it into the main draw through qualification, was stronger than his 38-year-old opponent in two sets. The match lasted 1 hour 47 minutes.
The Russian’s next opponent will be the winner of the meeting between Taylor Fritz (USA) and Max Purcell (Australia).
