“I’m very pleased with the result, because I played all the games, including the final, from beginning to end – I fought for every ball. It just so happened that in the final my opponent beat me. But Gael Monfils is very experienced, he has been on tour for many years, [так что] there is nothing supernatural about this. I’m pleased with how the week went and I’m glad that I was finally able to reach my first ATP final. Although throughout the first set and until the end of the second, Gael could barely walk between rallies, bending in half. And during the rally he began to run, performing 20 long accelerations in all directions. I understood that he was ready to run more and more, ready to give 100% to win this match.

Such changes during the match were not surprising. After several similar cases, it immediately became clear that everything was fine with him, the man was ready to play. This is a player who loves performances, [любит] get the crowd going, play to the crowd. Before the match, there was an understanding that something similar could happen on the court. “I was ready for this,” Kotov told the Championship.

After the tournament in Stockholm, Kotov rose to 81st place in the ATP rankings.
