Russian tennis player Pavel Kotov spoke about gifts received from tournament organizers.

On October 22, Kotov lost to the Frenchman Gael Monfils in the final of the tennis tournament in Stockholm. For the 24-year-old Russian, this was the first final at an ATP tournament.

– I have a huge number of cups and vases at home – for all children’s, youth and even adult tournaments. But a gift like a watch is quite interesting and fresh. Because I will wear them and remember that I reached the final here. I will take the same cup home, and it will stand there – I will only glance at it a couple of times.

The most interesting present from the organizers? I think just the clock. They always give cups and plates. But one was especially memorable – for futures in the Czech Valasske-Mezirici. There is a glass factory there near the city – and they made a custom trophy for the winner. I liked the vase, but it was terribly heavy: it felt like seven or eight kilograms. I then barely dragged it to Moscow (laughs). Back then I also traveled by train, but this was in addition to luggage and bags. They also gave it in such a large box the size of a shoe box – you had to carry it in a bag.

In fact, I gave out a lot of cups: to school, to the Mosrentgen club. The rest are on display. True, the space there has already run out, so some of the gifts have been placed around the apartment. The fate of this? I hope I’ll buy a bigger display case (laughs), “Championship quotes Kotov as saying.”

Kotov is ranked 81st in the ATP rankings.
