Sakkari’s draw at the WTA Finals
Maria Sakkari (No. 9), competing in the WTA Finals for the third time in a row, was drawn into the group with Arina Sambalenka, Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula.
The draw for the WTA finals has taken place and shows the two groups from which the eight finalists will fight for qualification for the knockout rounds.
We remind you that Karolina Mukhova announced that she will not take part in the WTA Finals due to an injury problem and that Maria Sakkari (No. 9) took her place.
The Greek will therefore take part in the WTA finals for the third time in a row. While she managed to qualify for the semi-finals in her two previous appearances, she was drawn into Bacalar’s “Fire” group, where she was at the top of the world rankings Arina Sambalenka, Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula.
To Another group called Chetumal is found Iga Sviontek, Coco Goff, Ons Zambert and Marketa Vodrusova.
The first matches of the WTA Finals, to be held in Cancun, Mexico, will take place on Sunday, October 29, while the Greek tennis player will play her first match against Sampalenka on Monday (October 30) at 1:15 a.m.
