Sakkari: “It was a very bad day at work”
Maria Sakkari said after the loss to Arina Sambalenka that she was not nervous before the game and emphasized that it was simply a bad day for her.
Maria Sakkari had a bad night as nothing worked for her and she was defeated by Arina Sambalenka 2-0 (6-0, 6-1) in her WTA Finals debut after winning a game.
The Greek tennis player made it clear in her statements that she was not stressed and emphasized that the game simply did not work out for her.
“To be completely honest, I wasn’t nervous before the game. I was completely relaxed. I just didn’t feel good about my game, maybe because there had been many days without me on the court since my last tournament in China. Maybe that’s a factor. I don’t know it.
I think it was pretty obvious that I wasn’t feeling my game and wasn’t comfortable on the pitch. It was just a really, really bad day at work and hopefully things will be better on Tuesday (SS vs. Elena Rybakina). said the world number 9.
