(Cancún) World No.2 Iga Swiatek successfully entered the WTA Finals in Cancun (Mexico) on Monday, a tournament which brings together the eight best players of the season, by beating Marketa Vondrousova (N.6) 7- 6 (7/3), 6-0.

The tournament is of particular importance for the Pole, who can take back the throne of N.1 from Aryna Sabalenka depending on the progress of the competition.

This could have taken a bad turn from the start for Swiatek, broken from the start then led 2-5 in the first set.

But the 22-year-old set the record straight, subsequently leaving no chance to her Czech opponent, surprise winner of the last Wimbledon.

Vondrousova managed to force a tiebreaker in which she did not exist, giving the first set to Swiatek on a double fault.

Before completely collapsing in the second round and losing her serve three times in a row, leaving the Pole to conclude with her throw in at 5-0.

In the same group, the meeting between Coco Gauff (N.3) and Ons Jabeur (N.7) was interrupted by rain. Gauff, defending champion of the United States Open, leads 6-0, 1-0.
