Carlos Alcarath was unprepared and lost 0-2 sets to Roman Safiulin, who showed an impressive performance.

Carlos Alcarath has left the Paris Masters. The Spaniard was far from his best and was beaten 2-0 by Roman Safiulin.

The Russian was outstanding, beating Alkarath 6-3, 6-4 and taking the biggest win of his career. The world number 45 managed eight break points and used four of them to secure the ticket for the “16”.

In total he had 15 winners for 10 unforced errors, while the Spaniard had the same winners for 7 unforced errors. Alkarath’s big problem was his serve and in particular the conditions he found himself in on the second serve, where he only had 37%.
