Soviet and Russian tennis player Andrei Chesnokov does not see any tragedy in the defeat of Daniil Medvedev in the second round of the ATP tournament in Paris.

Medvedev lost to Bulgarian Gregor Dimitrov with a score of 3:6, 7:6 (7:4), 6:7 (2:7) and ended his performance in the tournament.

– Amazing match. I think why Dimitrov is not in the top 10? He’s just incredibly cool now, on some kind of cosmic level. After you play the final, it is very difficult to play the first round – that’s what happened to Daniil. In the first round, Medvedev was very unlucky in the grid.

Dani made mistakes. There were incredible plays on match points. But there is no tragedy in this defeat. It’s a shame, because I would have liked to see Daniil longer. I feel sorry that Medvedev is going home now. Dimitrov has now put out an amazing match. But what happens next? Will he continue to play through the stump deck? The Medvedev-Dimitrov match would be a highlight of the Masters final in Paris,” Chesnokov told the Championship.

Dimitrov’s opponent in the next round will be Alexander Bublik from Kazakhstan.
