Russian tennis player Vera Zvonareva became the first mother since 2014 to win the WTA Finals as a pair. Zvonareva repeated the achievement of African Kara Black.
Vera Zvonareva, paired with German Laura Siegemund, won the WTA Final Tournament in Cancun. For 39-year-old Zvonareva, this title in pairs was the 16th in her career and the fourth this season.
The official WTA website reports that Zvonareva became the first mother to win the Final Doubles Tournament since 2014. 9 years ago, Kara Black from Zimbabwe did the same.
Vera Zvonareva gave birth to a daughter, Evelina, in 2016.
