Former world number one Japanese Naomi Osaka will resume playing on the WTA tour after giving birth to a child at a tournament in Brisbane (Australia), the WTA press service reports.
The competition will take place from December 31 to January 7.
“I’m very happy to return to the court and take part in the tournament. “I always love starting the season in Brisbane and I can’t wait to get back,” said the 26-year-old.
In January 2023, Osaka announced her pregnancy shortly after withdrawing from the Australian Open. On July 7, her daughter Shai was born.
Osaka is a four-time Grand Slam champion, having won the Australian Open and the US Open twice each.
