Two-time winner of the Grand Slam tournaments in doubles Andrei Olkhovsky does not consider the Russian tennis player Alexander Shevchenko’s reaching the final of the tournament in Metz, France, an outstanding achievement.

On Friday, 22-year-old Shevchenko beat French representative Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the semifinals in two sets – 6:4, 6:4. A native of Rostov-on-Don reached the finals of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournament for the first time in his career.

— Yes, Shevchenko’s performance in the semifinals was successful. He is now in good shape, showing himself worthy – he beat Khachanov, he beat Erbert. Time will tell how promising he is. The ATP final is a good result, of course, but so far I don’t see anything outstanding and I don’t think we can talk about the top ten,” RT quotes Olkhovsky.

Shevchenko’s opponent in the final of the tournament in Metz will be the Frenchman Hugo Amber.
